ORLEANS – The words to this NRBQ original song, “Christmas Wish,” written by Joey Spampinato, include, “It’s the time of the year when all good dreams come true.”
Here is a stage full of musicians singing Spampinato’s words and playing his beautiful Christmas song at the Christmas Cavalacade for the Homeless. They dedicated the performance to Joey, who recently announced that he is battling cancer.
And so there is a profound Christmas wish to be found in these voices, and in the faces of all of these performers: Get well, Joey.
Joey is a founding member of NRBQ, often described as the world’s greatest bar band. He has played with many legends, including Keith Richards and Bonnie Raitt.
Recently, he has been playing in a band, The Spampinato Brothers, with his brother, Johnny Spampinato, a legend in his own right. Johnny is founding member of the Incredible Casuals – the greatest Cape Cod band of all time (in Cape Cod Wave’s opinion).
That is Johnny Spampinato, wearing a red hat, at the beginning of the video. At the other end of the stage is Kami Lyle, Joey’s wife, and another astonishing musician. This stage is full of brilliant talent.
More importantly, the stage was full of kind souls. Before the song, Lyle declared that all in attendance were now Spampinatos.
From Cape Cod Wave to Joey Spampinato, get well soon. We miss your music, your talent, and your exuberance. We miss you doing this: The Spampinato Brothers VIDEO
