BREWSTER – There are songs you expect to hear every year at the Cape Cod Christmas Cavalcade for the Homeless, the four-plus hour local music and variety show staged for the past 14 years by local musician Chandler Travis.
One of those songs is “Santa Will Find You” and over the past several years, a number of singers have given the poignant 2007 Mindy Smith song a try. But no one sings it quite like Monica Rizzio, a local performer whose soulful rendition is a showstopper.
This year at the Cavalcade, which was held at Ocean Edge in Brewster for the second time, Rizzio teamed up with her old bandmates, Tripping Lily, along with bass player Ron Siegel for a rendition sure to soften even the hardest heart.
This is part of what makes the Cavalcade special year after year: heartfelt performances like this plus comical moments all mixed in to an evening of local musical talent for a good cause, Housing Assistance Corporation, which provides outreach for homeless individuals and runs homeless shelters for families on Cape Cod, as well as providing other services for the needy.
