FALMOUTH – Ah, summer. There is nothing sweeter than taking a walk to downtown Falmouth on a Friday evening and finding a great band playing a catchy original song about wanting to go out on the water.
We want to go out on the water. Take me out on the water…
We’ve been digging this band, Paradise Rock, longer than almost any band on Cape Cod. While the band has been through many incarnations, and even another name for a decade or so, the consistent spirit driving it has been lead singer, Craigo Carlson, who seems to get better every time we see him.
The version of the Paradise Rock band that played a free concert at Peg Noonan Park included Carlson on vocals and guitar, Evan Sawyer on drums, Eric Hayden on keyboards, Maurice Soque Jr. on saxophone, bass player Randy Gummow, and former band member, Bob Vander Pyl back for a guest appearance on guitar. Vander Pyl plays a nice lead on this song.
This original song by Craigo is called, “Take Me Out On The Water.”
In a previous video we shot of Paradise Rock, we described the band as “sort of Cape Cod’s version of Phish, only Craigo likes to fish.”
So here, he sings about wanting to go out on the water to go fishing.
