BREWSTER – Move over Patti Page. It looks like Cape Cod got a new summer anthem for Christmas.
Okay, we’re biased. But we dare you to watch this new original song, “Sharks Don’t Bite (They Just Want To Kiss You)” by Kami Lyle and see if you can stop yourself from smiling all the way through. We can’t.
Lyle is a trumpet playing, singing, dancing charismatic, and hilarious whirlwind of a talent who, among many things, hosts the Kami Lyle Sit-A-While, where she brings national musicians to Cape Cod. On Sunday, she played this song at the Christmas Cavalcade For the Homeless.
While not exactly a Christmas song, we saw it as a really cool Christmas present to Cape Cod.
The Christmas Cavalcade For the Homeless raises money for the Housing Assistance Corporation and their work with homeless individuals and families. This year, it was held at the Ocean Edge in Brewster.
The concert is organized by Chandler Travis, leader of the Chandler Travis Philharmonic and several other bands.
Here is Lyle bringing sharks, the joy of being a musician on Cape Cod, and reminiscences of the year 2016 together into this hilarious, catchy ode to getting in the water when the purple shark flag is flying.
