WOODS HOLE – When the sunset flashes at the frozen horizon in Woods Hole, the contrast from the snow-covered sea to the fiery sky is startling.

Some of these wintertime Cape Cod sunsets seem to be the work of two crazy painters working together. One is bleak, the other is intoxicated with light.

Here Cape Cod Wave’s favorite artist plays upon a boat frozen into the water, a ferry heading into Woods Hole, and a flag in the simmering sky.
