Race Point Sunset – Slideshow

Race Point Sunset July 2026
Written by Brian Tarcy

PROVINCETOWN – Getting to the tip of the Cape at Race Point Beach and watching the sun set is one of the great pleasures of living on Cape Cod.

Yes, the sun sets off of many beaches on Cape Cod, and many of them are facing directly west so the sun actually sets over the water in a more direct way than at Race Point.

But there is an interior knowledge that one is at the end of the Cape that somehow makes a sunset at Race Point Beach a bit different.

It’s the tip of the Cape, the end of the earth in a way. You can’t go any further. It is July. The weather is perfect.

And just as the golden marker of time disappears over the ocean, a fishing boat goes by the dropping sun. And there it is: another “Ah, summer” moment on Cape Cod.
