DENNIS – What a treat it is see The Sacred Mounds. While we have seen them once before, Saturday night’s show gave an interesting new perspective on one of our favorite Cape Cod bands.
The songs were mostly serious and heartfelt, and always cosmic and very cool, but it was the banter in between by lead singer Christoph Eize that then had us laughing out loud. He’s really a fun, authentic showman.
A year ago, when we first saw the Sacred Mounds, we were sort of astonished we got to see such a good band at a small club on Cape Cod.
It has taken us a year to figure out what we think we heard but we would now categorize this as if Neil Young joined the Grateful Dead and incorporated a little bit of, well, jazz. Jazz is even the name of one of their songs. It is quite an original.
Seeing The Sacred Mounds again at one of our favorite venues, the Harvest Gallery Wine Bar, was especially nice. Owner Michael Pearson has put together such a great formula – great music at a reasonable time of day in a comfortable atmosphere – that he may have to expand soon.
Eize, along with drummer Luke Massouh and bass player Kevin O’Rourke are the Sacred Mounds. Here they are with an original song, “Nowhere Near There.”

Thanks for the video. Wish I had been there. (That was the song I envisioned when I thought of the show)
