Surfer At Nauset Beach – VIDEO Mashup

ORLEANS – Mike Lauro was doing some landscape work at a restaurant when “the lunch crowd got thick. I had to get my truck out of there.”

So Lauro, 37, of Orleans, did what a landscaper in Orleans can do for a break: he went to Nauset Beach to go surfing.

We found him studying the small-ish waves and catching a few pretty nice rides. Here is a little mashup of three of them.

Afterward, Lauro said he gets out surfing about 15 times a year. “This is definitely not what I would call a surf destination,” he said of the Cape. Lauro has surfed in California, Indonesia and Costa Rica, he said.

Still, he stayed out for a little more than an hour. “There was nobody out there, so that’s good,” he said. Surfing has become so popular, he said, “Usually there’s a lot of people out there.”
