FALMOUTH – We have always admired Randy Gummow’s guitar playing. But it was quite a thrill to know that there is now such a thing as the Randy Gummow Band. And the band is good.
With one full practice behind them, this trio of Gummow on guitar, Ben Elder on bass and Ben Mez on drums played a solid set of covers and originals to a packed bar at the Quarterdeck Restaurant on Thursday night. Mez introduced the band by saying, “We’re the Randy Gummow Band, at least for now.”
Gummow, a longtime member (guitar & bass) of Paradise Rock and the host of the long running open mic at Pie-In-The-Sky in Woods Hole, now has his own band. We quite enjoyed it.
Here is an original by Gummow, “Midnight Rider.”
