EAST FALMOUTH – At Cape Cod Wave, we are biased. We love the 02536. We love paradise. We love rock. And we are especially fond of Woods Hole.
So while winter is just about here after summer was just here, we offer this music video from JR Brody’s in East Falmouth about a different village in the same town of Falmouth, “way beyond the Quissett lights.”
This song about Woods Hole that brought us to East Falmouth is by the band, Paradise Rock – originally formed decades and many iterations ago in Woods Hole. This original song by lead singer Craigo Carlson, “South Falmouth Blues” is a Cape Cod Wave favorite. Actually, this is only the first part of the song. Paradise Rock, you see, is something of a jam band.
You may have noticed, if you follow Cape Cod Wave even casually, that we have a bit of an obsession with local original music.
Cape Cod Wave pretty much started because we wanted an excuse to say we were working when we went to see the Incredible Casuals, our favorite Cape Cod band.
We blame, in a good way, Chandler Travis, Johnny Spampinato, and Rikki Bates for all of this.
And from that incredibly casual start, we decided to try to document the music scene on Cape Cod song by song – band by band. And the more we learn about the great talent on Cape Cod, the more obsessed we become.
Somehow, it always comes back to this song – the sound of Woods Hole, at least to us. The members of the band are Craigo Carlson, lead singer and guitar; Randy Gummow on bass; Justin Sawyer on guitar, Eric Hayden on keyboard; and Nate Chu on drums.
This is Paradise Rock – sort of Cape Cod’s version of Phish, only Craigo actually knows how to fish.
