Frozen Out: As ICE Acts on Cape Cod, Locals React

ICE on Cape Cod
Written by Brian Tarcy

CAPE COD – What is going on with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) tactics on Cape Cod, and how are local officials and activists reacting?

According to U.S. Congressman William Keating (D-MA), who represents Cape Cod in the U.S. Capitol, President Donald “Trump is fixated on numbers that Barack Obama had deporting people. So he has this arbitrary 3,000 a day number… it’s an artificial threshold that he just made up. You can see it in their tactics… it’s driving an improperly and poorly executed program.”

For this story, Cape Cod Wave talked with Keating, Barnstable Country Sheriff Donna Buckley, state Senator Julian Cyr (D-Cape & Islands), Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce CEO Paul Niedzwiecki, and three activists involved in immigration services on Cape Cod.
