WOODS HOLE – Darin Talbot, who spends much of his year in Costa Rica and brands himself (even his guitar!) as Costa Man, put on a pre-storm show on July Fourth at the always-delicious Quick’s Hole Taqueria.
Seeing him, felt like we were seeing the ultimate tourist-destination entertainer with a cruise ship professional vibe. In fact, he even brought along his own double-sided laminated “Song Menu” that he passed out to audience members.
And while he was certainly capable of playing all the favorites, we really enjoyed his version of Hotel California, which was more interpretive than a straight-up cover.
And then he played this impressive, country-tinged autobiographical song, “Welcome To My Life.” For the show, he was accompanied by bongo player Kevin McCann of North Falmouth and together they made this song sound ready for the radio.
