WOODS HOLE – When the scientists of Water Street throw their annual Woods Hole July 4 parade, they create a sort of Norman Rockwell meets microbiology family party atmosphere.

Happy data gathered from the inside of my brain proves that this is the coolest parade in the world.

It is inexplicable other than to say that even Mardi Gras and Carnival have nothing on this little parade of a village in love with the pure joy of knowledge, a potpourri of other weird stuff, and then watermelon.
