2021’s Final Sunset That Wasn’t, From The Hazy Knob – Slideshow

The Knob, New Year's Eve
Written by Brian Tarcy

FALMOUTH – Maybe it was fitting that the final sunset of 2021 was so hazy. In fact, it wasn’t really a sunset at all. It was more like a dimming of the lights as a final, subtle curtain call.

But it didn’t matter to us. We were at the Knob, one of our favorite places on Cape Cod, And the eerie end-of-the-year light made the horizon disappear, which made the Knob look almost like it was floating.

Of course, we weren’t the only ones who decided to trek to the Knob to watch the final sunset of the year. It was the sunset that wasn’t, as at least 20 people atop the Knob at one point could attest.

We found one creative photographer putting together a time lapse photo of the sunset for his kids. We took a photo of his photo.

And so now the year has come to an end, hazy as it all seems. We’re hoping that 2022 finally brings some clarity to the situation. Either way, we may have to join our new friends who we heard making plans to meet again at the Knob next year on New Year’s Eve.
