PROVINCETOWN – Here is a song about optimism by the Simple Sisters. It is called “Only Up From Here.” And it is fantastic.
I get why people go through the hassle to see the Rolling Stones or Taylor Swift or Phish at some huge venue. As a wise person once said to me: You be you.
I’d rather see the Simple Sisters at the Old Colony Tap.
Last Wednesday night, the beer was cold, the crowd in the full but not overfull Old Colony Tap was a perfect size, and the music was great and so much fun.
Two Provincetown artists, including Jerome Greene, were sketching the scene. And it was a scene. The Simple Sisters are fantastic musicians. Their talent shines. And they create memorable fun music. Fun being the operative word.
The Simple Sisters are Lydia Parkington on cello and Megan Tillis on steel guitar. I saw them last year perform their song, “Mean Dumb & Ugly,” which, like the above song, should be a radio hit.
