WELLFLEET – There’s a plaque commemorating the first transatlantic wireless transmission, which was sent in 1903 from this spot.

The telegram, addressed to King Edward VII of England from President Theodore Roosevelt, was sent from an array of antennas that Guglielmo Marconi had installed on a Wellfleet sea cliff.



Those towers have been long lost to erosion, but the view that must have inspired him to put the towers here remains.

It would inspire anyone to shout across the ocean, Hey, check this place out!
