ORLEANS – The group of mad genius musicians and artists living on the Outer Cape surprise us every year at the Christmas Cavalcade for the Homeless. Here is the first of what we hope will be a few videos, as well as a slide show, from one of our favorite events of the year.
This lip sync can only be described as inspired genius. Okay, it could probably be described a lot of other ways too. But “inspired genius” is the one we choose. Thus, you are stuck with it too.
“Directed” by Chandler Travis, this is charming and utterly of Cape Cod – a lip sync of Jingle Bells unlike any you have seen before – a true snapshot of the wonderful, peculiar event that is the Cavalcade. Musicians lip-synced to the full chorus power of the version of the song by Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians.
According to Fred Boak, Valet for Travis and singer in at least two of Travis’ universe of bands, Travis has been dreaming of this performance since he started the Cavalcade.
The Cape Cod Christmas Cavalcade for the Homeless features Cape Cod’s most brilliant, and eccentric, musicians from the Outer Cape. This is most of them pretending to sing.
