Dirty Rotten Vipers: “Swing It Brother, Swing” – Music VIDEO

FALMOUTH – Here is a video of the Dirty Rotten Vipers  on fire playing, “Swing It Brother, Swing,” first made famous by Billie Holiday. It was written by Clarence Williams, Louis Raymond, and Walter Bishop.

In the winter, the Dirty Rotten Vipers are a New Orleans busking band, making their living on the corner of Royal & Toulouse Streets, in the French Quarter, New Orleans.

In the summer, they are a street band on Commercial Street in Provincetown with a regular Sunday gig at the classic dive bar, The Old Colony Tap.

But for one special Friday night in late June, the Dirty Rotten Vipers brought their high energy New Orleans jazz show to the Daily Brew Coffee House & Lounge in North Falmouth. It was a fantastic show. This new venue for music is awesome.

They are playing at a few other venues around the Cape this summer and are planning to bring their music to Europe soon.

I have been a fan of Will Harrington, leader of the Dirty Rotten Vipers, since I first saw him play outside of Provincetown Town Hall at the Year-Rounders festival in 2014. It was the day before his 18th birthday. He has been my favorite performer on the Cape ever since that day.

In recent years, Harrington formed the Dirty Rotten Vipers with a bunch of very talented musicians he met in either Provincetown or New Orleans.

He recently won an Oscar for his amazing performance in the short film, “The Singers,” playing on Netflix.

On this song, Meagan Gillis (who also plays trombone and xylophone) is on piano. Harrington, who usually is on piano, was on trumpet and vocals. The  song featured Harrington on trumpet and the very entertaining Reece Ashley, who was on spectacular on trombone. The rest of the band, holding song together, were Jimbo Lockhart on drums, Richie Hennessy on bass, and Ben Pegg on guitar.

In the middle of the show, while the band took a break, Harrington’s talented sister, Lily Mae Harrington, played a short set, including a country tinged catchy original, “Heartbreak Hangover.”
