FALMOUTH – It was a muggy morning. It was a buggy morning. The sun rising over the coast of Falmouth and Buzzards Bay was showy, as I had hoped for and anticipated.
On Saturday morning, I watched the sun rise from The Knob and then over Quissett Harbor.
It was the morning before the day of the Falmouth Road Race. The Sunday of the race is always the busiest morning of the year in Falmouth. The day before seemed a perfect day to see the sun rise from one of the nicest spots in town, and anticipate a great weekend for the town and for all the runners.
I always think of The Knob as one of the best places to see a sunset, as this whole sun setting over the water on the East Coast will always be a cool feature of Cape Cod. I’ve even sought it out as a place to visit during a storm. But never a sunrise, before this morning.
And despite looking down and seeing a couple of mosquitos on my legs, settling in for a big meal as though with a red tablecloth and a bottle of wine, I think it was worth it. I mean, check out the view.
