SANDWICH – We were driving along Route 6A when we saw, just south of the road, an area that we’d surely seen before but had obviously never totally noticed. It was Scorton Creek, a spectacular slice of heaven hidden in plain view.
While the creek flows under a bridge on that road through marshes all the way to East Sandwich Beach, we had not before exactly noticed it on the south side of Route 6A.
After passing it and thinking, What is that?, we turned around in a local business parking lot and returned to a dirt road which led to a parking lot surrounded by trails, including a fire road.
We headed towards water. And this was what we saw.
