WOODS HOLE – When we heard that Luke Vose, the charismatic singer/songwriter from one of our favorite bands, Crooked Coast, was playing an acoustic set in Woods Hole, we were excited.
When we heard what he’s doing acoustically while we listened in the spectacular setting of Phusion Grille on Eel Pond, we were surprised and impressed with the cool pivot some of his acoustic songwriting has taken him.
Here is a song, “Beat Back,” from an upcoming solo album. The song seemed to us, with its haunted imagery, like some sort of dark channeling from Bruce Springsteen’s bleak classic album, “Nebraska.”
Vose was playing at a benefit fundraiser for a Falmouth native, Mark Peterson, who is in recovery from a serious fall and spinal injury. The fundraiser was to help with medical expenses. If you’d like to donate, see this Facebook page.
