FALMOUTH – An extreme cold spell has locked in the first snow of the season as an icy hazard. But when the fluffy snowflakes first began falling Friday evening, it cast a magical spell.
We headed over to the Falmouth Village Green to see how the folksy decorations would look with the white stuff.
Sure enough, everything looked extra festive with a snowy cap, including the shiny red mailbox for Santa’s mail; the reindeer crew pulling Santa’s sled; the dioramas of Santa’s elves; the little Christmas train; and especially the statues of Dickensian-era carolers, set up in front of what we jokingly call “the Christmas pole.”
With its colorful lights creating the illusion of a tree in the center of the Green, this pole offers a lovely oasis of brightness on these dark nights.
Message to the DPW heroes who put together this holiday vision that gets better every year: I wish they would leave “the Christmas pole” lights up all winter.
Merry Christmas to All,
