PROVINCETOWN – Well this was fun, and damn good.
From Wednesday at Herring Cove Beach, here are The Daggers – an original Cape Cod band with a growing reputation and some obvious musical chops. Add in a good bit of healthy swagger on stage and this original song, “Double Down Saloon,” shows a bunch of talented musicians coming together and raising some serious fun.
Enjoy. We sure did.
The Daggers are Gabriel Morton on guitar and vocals, Rob Scott on keyboard and vocals, Kyle Brodie on bass and vocals, John Wolf on trombone, and Luke Massouh on drums.
Massouh was sitting in for the regular drummer, Leo Laemmie.
It’s all so interesting how this great band, like almost every Cape Cod band, is somewhat of a jigsaw puzzle of members from other bands. In this case, great bands that we love.
Scott, who has more charisma than any keyboard player we’ve seen in venues with less than 20,000 people (We’re old school, thinking Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman), is a member of The Grab Brothers, a Cape Cod band that we think belongs in an arena.
And Massouh is a member of The Sacred Mounds – a band we cannot recommend highly enough.
Anyway, we’re not sure if it’s the ocean air, an edge-of-the-continent atmosphere or what, but we have never gone wrong seeing a concert at Herring Cove Beach. It helps to see a band as good as The Daggers.
