FALMOUTH – An epic Halloween party, hosted by Crooked Coast, was unfolding at the Coonamessett Inn when an overambitious rock & roll fog machine set off the fire alarm and made the night even more interesting.
There was so much that was perfect about how this all unfolded, especially that no one was hurt and the fire department ensured everyone was safe and even got the party back up and running in a reasonable time.
Rich Rogers, one of the organizers of the event, explained what happened in the above video.
Among the poetic parts of the night was the fact that all four members of Crooked Coast – Luke Vose on guitar and vocals, John McNamara on guitar and vocals, Ben Elder on bass, and the very impressive Shaqed Druyan on drums, were all dressed at one point as flamboyant TV chef Guy Fieri, whom I will always think of as the subject of the greatest restaurant review ever written.
But I digress. Or maybe I don’t as there seemed to be beautiful symmetry in a Guy Fieri-dressed band setting off the smoke alarms.
And then there was the song they were playing when the alarm went off, “Dancing With The Dead,” which has a very Halloween musical vibe. Add in the creative costumes, dancers and light show, and it was a night to remember.
On other note about this song. The lyrics are essentially a love letter to a deceased loved one and an urge to keep dancing. When I pay attention to the words, it never fails to move me. Thanks for the memories.
