CHATHAM – Music is always among the highlights of the Chatham July 4 Parade and this year was no exception.
The excellent Chatham Town Band, the Dennis-Yarmouth High School Marching Band and numerous other local bands, including the Chatham Travis Philharmonic and Steve Morgan and the Kingfish, serenaded the crowds–organizers usually estimate about 20,000 people–with a variety of musical styles.
The Chatham Independence Day Parade is one of the oldest in the United States. With the coming 75th anniversary of D-Day, the theme was honoring veterans.
Under sunny skies and with the streets lined with thousands of enthusiastic spectators sporting red, white and blue, it was about as spirited an occasion as you can imagine in a small town by the sea.
