Juno At Noon; The Peak Of An Epic Cape Cod Blizzard – Slideshow

Written by Brian Tarcy

FALMOUTH –  At noon, Juno was crushing it on Cape Cod. On this day, the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce was a mere mirage in white.

Nothing on Main Street was open, except for the street itself. If you wanted to go bowling at Ryan Family Amusements, you couldn’t.  But let’s say you could… there was a snowdrift all the way up the door.

Just about the only people outside at noon when the peak of the storm named Juno was crushing Cape Cod were tow truck drivers, police, firefighters, and other news photographers in their four-wheel-drive trucks, and me – in my two-boot-drive body. I was walking.

For two hours, I walked around Falmouth snapping these pictures for us all to remember come next July when the sun is shining here – on the nicest summer on the planet.

The snow was moving horizontally. A few random souls were out, yet visibility was so low that it was hard to see them – even if they were shoveling snow only a few feet away.

Drifts were huge.

In some places I sunk in to my waist while walking, thinking someone would find me in April.

  • Awesome pictures, Brian! This is what snowstorms used to be like back in the 50’s and 60’s. Glad we didn’t have to come looking for you in a snow bank in the Spring!
