BREWSTER – It’s always fun to find a hidden gem of a hiking trail on Cape Cod. While it’s probably not hidden to folks in Brewster, the beautiful and lushly green Eddy Bay Trail was brand new to me.
The mostly flat, pine-needle carpeted walk through the woods led to clearing overlooking Cape Cod Bay. Along the way, I passed holly trees, a tupelo tree, blueberry bushes, bayberry bushes, an Eastern white pine grove, and lots of pitch pine.
Although the entire easy one-mile loop was great, the prize of that view of the bay was that wonderful reminder that hikes in the woods around here often lead to views like that. And there were other side trails off the main trail that looked appealing. Those side trails are marked in my mind for my next time here.
Parking is along Long Road, and the trail is right there for a quick, enjoyable and easy walk.
