WELLFLEET – I pulled into the enormous parking lot at Marconi Beach on Thursday afternoon and immediately realized that I had all 500 or so parking spaces to myself.
Jackpot. The beach was mine. All mine.
When I walked toward the beach, it was apparent that the sea was very interesting. Immediately, I thought of George Costanza from the classic Seinfeld episode, “The Marine Biologist” uttering the dramatic phrase, “The sea was angry that day.”
And I thought of the surfer I met a few years back who described surf like this as “like a washing machine on spin cycle.”
As you will see at the end of this 1-minute video, I stuck around long enough and stupidly got close enough to get caught in the rinse cycle.
