HYANNIS – There is a rich blues scene on Cape Cod and there are also a large number of outdoor concerts this time of year, so it was a pleasure but not a surprise to see Fred Clayton and other blues all stars performing on Friday evening at Aselton Park.
The band, which featured Clayton on bass and vocals, Christian McCarthy on drums, Charles Langford on saxophone, Adel Rezki on guitar and Peter Mann on keyboards played some great old, new, known and obscure blues to an appreciative audience.
With a backdrop of Hyannis Harbor on a spectacular sunny day, it was pretty hard to have the blues but it was easy to appreciate them when presented so professionally.
What stood out, besides the music, was Clayton’s friendly personality and we especially loved his originals, including this one, “Keeping The Blues Alive.”
