The Sun Also Rises, Even When Hidden By Clouds

Surf Drive Sunrise
Written by Brian Tarcy

FALMOUTH – For a brief glorious moment shortly before the scheduled 6 a.m. sunrise this morning, the sky was a palette of glowing orange streaked by gray lines.

There was hope and full expectation of a coming sunrise to make it even more spectacular. But, it was not to be. Instead, the moment of color and beauty was fleeting, lasting less than five minutes.

And then the morning sky faded to gray, as if a curtain had quickly been pulled on the show. We never actually saw the sun.

Still, the memory of that early morning ephemeral glow lingered, as if it had planted the seeds of optimism into the rest of the day.

Later, our optimism was rewarded. The sun appeared.
