EASTHAM – The poison ivy along the paths of Fort Hill was bright red. The flowers glowed. Most of the leaves were green while the high sea grass by the Nauset Marsh varied from green to brown.
The glorious empty solitude of Fort Hill pulls you to explore every path on a day like this. On finding one entrance to the Red Maple Swamp closed, it made sense for the senses to find the other open entrance onto the boardwalk built right through this interesting landscape.
We found a tree that made us do a limbo dance to get by, but it was well worth it.
