DENNIS – Here, in two minutes, are two catchy little ditties performed by Chandler Travis with John Clark on standup bass.
The first is called, “The Covid Song.” It was written by Travis and opens with the questionable, and yet surprisingly catchy line, “I’m so glad that my baby got Covid.” It’s about the cozy, bright side of quarantining, or perhaps not.
On the second song, Travis and Clark are joined by Fred Boak, who sang harmony. The song is called, “The Coffee Song.” The children’s song may have originated in Germany in the mid-20th century, said Travis. It’s about “C-O-F-F-E-E” which “is not good for me.”
In a two-hour show at the Harvest Gallery Wine Bar, these little ditties were just a couple of highlights of a show that was all highlights. Travis is one of the best songwriters anywhere, and a great entertainer. His show of mostly originals, including many with lyrics by his longtime collaborator David Greenberger, was, as always, fun, funny and filled with wonderful music.
