Christmas Cavalcade 2017 Highlights — A Holiday Mix Gift VIDEO

BREWSTER – Behold! ‘Tis the day after Christmas 2017. We at Cape Cod Wave want to re-gift all of our readers something useful that can be revisited throughout the year to bring happiness and perhaps even laughter. And so we decided to give you a Holiday Medley of Highlights from this year’s Cape Cod Christmas Cavalcade for the Homeless.

How can we describe this event? It was a wacky variety show of talent, mostly musicians but also spoken word performers, belly dancers and a juggler. There were classic Christmas songs, reworked classics, and originals—all with a holiday theme.

There is no way to recreate the feeling in the room when Christine Ernst finished her original monologue, tears running down her face, as she advised people to seek out human connections and kindness. Or when Zoe Lewis turned “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” into a jazz anthem complete with a scat duet with Danny Devereaux, aka Chandler Travis. There was a version of the Chipmunks holiday song; and a rousing version of the William Tell Overture with “newly discovered” Christmas-themed lyrics.

Other gems in this Cavalcade Mashup are Kami Lyle singing The Waitresses’ song “Christmas Wrapping”; Suede and Chandler Travis singing last year’s rewrite of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” by Lydia Liza and Josiah Lemanski with “consent” lyrics; “The Battle of the Yankee Swap” by The Bottles; and “Santa Lost a Ho” by Jo Brisbane.

Besides being infinitely entertaining, the 14th annual Cavalcade was, as it has always been, a benefit for the needy in our community. It benefits Housing Assistance Corporation, which runs homeless shelters here on Cape Cod, among other services.

There were more than 200 audience members there in the ballroom at Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster one week before Christmas, but in case you were one of the ones who missed it, we have put together this “Best Of” mix.

You’re welcome and Cheers to 2018!
