DENNIS – Cape Cod Bay is frozen. Twenty degrees is balmy. The world is upside down. It is Cape Cod in winter. It is not supposed to be this cold.
From the landing at Nobscussett Road to Chapin Beach to Mayflower Beach—beaches are iced over.
Soon we’ll see purple crocuses and yellow daffodils.
But for now, we go to the seashore to see a frozen tundra. No sound of surf. Ice floes try to crack free.
Snow fences hold back the retreating dunes.
The next storm might be even stronger.
I prefer to think about forsythia.
