PROVINCETOWN – Because it was there. That’s why we walked a mile and a half on one of the hottest muggiest days of the year though the Provincelands, into the Peaked Hills Bars Historic District, home of famous dune shacks, and onward to the Atlantic Ocean.
Also, because we had, in Provincetown in early August, a beach all to ourselves.
All we had to do was walk to it.
We had attempted this once before and learned rather quickly that one bottle of water was not going to be enough.
This time we were prepared, even on such a hot day, and our emotions felt full on swoon for the landscape and the weather.
On the way back, as the shadows were creating an entirely new version of what we had just seen, we noticed a few folks, including a couple of kids, had made it about as far as we had on our last visit.
Along the way, we thought of Kim Moberg’s music and it turned out she has what we think is the perfect song, “Summer Days” to accompany this. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
And if you decide to take this trek, bring water.
