Fishing Off Bass River Bridge

Written by Cape Cod Wave

BASS RIVER BRIDGE, DENNIS/YARMOUTH TOWN LINE – As a light rain fell Sunday, Tyler Biondi, 17, of Canton, Connecticut and his brother, Tim, 12, were fishing off the Bass River Bridge along with a half dozen other teenagers.

The boys, who summer in Dennis, were fishing for scup, Tyler said, but they had caught, in total, seven sea robins, five scup and a sea bass.

“There’s lots of variety here,” Tyler said.

They were using squid for bait because “we ran out of the good bait”: sea worms.

Tyler said the bridge is a place where locals fish.

“People are here every day fishing for food,” he said. When he catches fish, he often gives his catch away to others trying to catch their dinner, he said.
