FALMOUTH – About two years ago, I noticed a musician named Vanna Pacella, then a 16-year-old singer, songwriter, and keyboard player, was playing the clubs and other venues on Cape Cod. In fact, Pacella, now 18, has been been playing out for four years, since she was 14.
Pacella, of Falmouth, had been getting a lot of gigs all over the Cape, and even played some shows with one of my favorite bands, The Grab Brothers. I have been wanting to see her for a while.
Pacella graduated from high school this year. She was home schooled.
When I saw that Pacella was the performer at St. Barnabas Church’s “Lobster on The Lawn” fundraiser on Monday, I had to go. I did and I was rewarded with a great show.
Pacella was supposed appear with her power trio band, but both the drummer and guitarist could not make the show. So, dressed in all red in honor of the lobster rolls being served, Pacella adapted on the fly just before the shows was to start, and put on a cool solo show.
She has a beautiful voice. She sang some covers, such as Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” and also several originals, including this one called, “Periphery.”
Pacella has a new album called, “Listen,” her first, coming out on Friday, July 25. She is having an album release party that night at Soundcheck Studio in Pembroke.
