PROVINCETOWN – It is quite a thing to be alone with no human in sight on Race Point Beach with the sun setting and a full moon rising.
I hiked; I saw a few people, and then after a while I was the only one left.
With the temperature closer to 60 than 50 in the parking lot and a light breeze touching small ocean waves, it was a perfect night for a hike down Race Point Beach to Race Point itself. I made it just as the sun was setting.
It felt almost otherworldly to be on that enormous beach alone at night, and yet the solitude on the long, darkening stretch of beach made me actually feel so in tune with the world that it tingled the senses.
Behind me and then guiding my walk back was a full moon.
