TRURO – Three hundred ninety-nine years ago today, November 16, 1620, the Pilgrims had their first drink of fresh water in Truro, where we found ourselves walking recently.
Why the Pilgrims left Truro, where real estate prices were bound to rise astronomically in 400 years, for Plymouth, is beyond us. But we’re biased.
We would think that, seeing what we saw, the folks from the Mayflower would have wanted to stick around Cape Cod.
We also found ourselves walking the beauty of the Small’s Swamp Trail.
Both the Pilgrim Spring Trail and Small’s Swamp Trail are in the Pilgrim Heights Area of the Cape Cod National Seashore.
