NORTH FALMOUTH – There is perhaps no better place to experience the seasons than Bourne Farm and the nearby cranberry bogs, both along the Shining Sea Bikeway in North Falmouth.
Bourne Farm is actually situated on the dividing line between North Falmouth and West Falmouth. Visiting the two scenic venues makes a nice easy hike in any season.
We took advantage of the recent snowfall to take in some picturesque views of this area. Bourne Farm’s historic buildings (circa 1775) set beside Crocker Pond are particularly pretty in the snow.
A short walk across the 35-acres of fields on the farm property takes you to the bike path that brings you to the cranberry bogs owned by the Handy Cranberry Trust. Along the bike path, we saw many people walking dogs and even two cross country skiers.
We looped around the bogs, passing Wing Pond and the herring run along the way. Back to the bike path and Bourne Farm made for a lovely round-trip tour of a snowy and very scenic world.
