A Swan Strolls Down Katharine Lee Bates Road in Falmouth – VIDEO

Swan on Katharine Lee Bates Road
Written by Brian Tarcy

FALMOUTH – Why did the swan cross the road? Obviously, it wanted to get to the other side.

But first the swan decided to take a stroll down the middle of Katharine Lee Bates Road, causing a bit of a traffic jam. It was about 6 p.m. on Thursday when we happened upon him. Or her?

A couple of people in cars suggested that the swan may be hurt, but it seemed to be walking fine – or at least just like a swan.

In nearby Shivericks Pond, a pair of swans were hanging out and seemingly planning their family. Meanwhile, this lonely swan looked to maybe be headed for a night on the town.

This is not the first time I have seen this lonely swan. A couple of weeks ago, I saw a swan (this swan?) on the walking path between Mullen Hall School and Shivericks Pond. I wonder if it lost its mate.

In any case, be careful driving in Falmouth. There’s might be a swan on the road.

On a side note, this is the strangest thing I have seen since I ran into a group of turkeys attacking a mailman in Falmouth
