MASHPEE – Will’s Work Road which goes through a large parcel of conservation land called Will’s Work Area, leads to the Callie’s Beach looking out on Waquoit Bay.
We parked our car and walked into Will’s Work Area and the first thing we saw was a 5 MPH Speed Limit sign with a wooden sign attached warning, “Caution, People Hiking”.
Yes, this was the right spot. (Slide Show at bottom)
After the expected scenery of a walk through the January woods, we came upon Callie’s Beach, a seemingly deserted expanse of sand. We found four kinds of shellfish at the intersection of Waquoit Bay and Little River. Speaking of that intersection, it made for some cool cross waves.
And we kept walking. Suddenly we saw a clear set of footprints in the sand. Someone else was here. We walked and followed the footprints. And then… they were gone. Was it a ghost?
