ORLEANS – The surf was up earlier this week when I walked Nauset Beach. There were several people on the beach near the parking lot but once I headed down the beach just a short ways, there was only a random fellow walker to be seen.
It’s maybe easy to take something like the Cape Cod National Seashore for granted when it is always available in easy driving distance.
And yet, every time I find myself on one of these great expanses of beach, I am forever thankful for President John F. Kennedy’s vision to preserve this seashore forever.
It is breathtaking, and calming – a balm for the soul.
