WELLFLEET – So that’s what summer feels like. It’s been a while.

Early Saturday evening, in the spectacular part of the world known as Wellfleet, we found it. Summer, that is.

We’d been looking for summer for a few weeks, and we even thought we found it more than once. But those rare nice days were mirages between stretches of gray, overcast and not so warm.

We had forgotten how spring works on the Cape because we were spoiled last year by what turned out to be the greatest summer weather ever, and so this year we had been expecting/hoping for the same.

Instead, this has turned out to be a Cape Cod spring, meaning… well, if you live here you know. Spring on the Cape, on average, lasts about four hours. This Cape Cod Wave reporter has long believed that the Cape goes straight from winter to summer, skipping spring entirely.

But now summer is here. We are so ready.
