DENNIS – When I was visiting Mayflower Beach recently, the sunset was spectacular. Several other people seemed to concur but the biggest sense of agreement was that the sand fleas, or no-see-ums, or whatever they are called, were all up in everyone’s hair, face, arms and legs.
It was especially bad on the path between the beach and the water, as if the bugs knew where the food would be. And here we were.
But I learned that walking towards the water actually helped. While it didn’t necessarily lessen the amount of bugs (I think it did), the view was so amazing that I was able to convince myself this was totally worth it.
Now, as I am inside typing these words and safely not being bitten by tiny bugs, I can attest that it was worth it.
Summer is fleeting. Let’s do it again.
