PROVINCETOWN – After walking out of the parking lot onto the sand and then turning left at the Atlantic Ocean, I soon walked past the crowd and found myself alone on Friday night at Race Point Beach.
There was not much of a sun, but it was setting. It was really interesting. I noticed birds. As I walked further I saw more birds flying down along the coast, right past me.
They had places to go. I had birds to see.
An occasional seal popped up from the surface. I expected more.
And all along, I kept watching the sky and hoping for more color. I have seen some of the most spectacular, colorful sunsets ever on Race Point Beach.
But this night offered something different – a muted sunset and a commune with nature.
I did not see a coyote. But as it got darker, I walked back fast to the parking lot. I knew I was close when I saw beach fires to guide me.
