WELLFLEET – Some days are better than others. A Cape Cod summer day is always better than others.
After attending a “best night of the summer” Woodstock-like event that a group of lower Cape musicians called, Woo Woopalooza, we spent the next hot summer day walking part of Great Island. Then we took a right, found a beach, and went for a swim. Along the way, we saw an assortment of birds doing bird-like things, including one seagull who was having crab for lunch.
We became hungry. So we headed to our new favorite place an hour from home – The Pearl on Wellfleet Harbor. We had oysters and beer, and lucked into seeing a great Cape Cod band we had recently discovered, The Daggers.
Oh yeah, one more thing.
Before we left Great Island, we wandered past one of those “Kindness Rock” gardens – rocks with messages written on them.
We found one rock that inspired us more than all the others. It said:
“Never give up on your dreams. Keep sleeping.”
