WOODS HOLE – There are certainly fancier neighborhoods all over Cape Cod, but nothing quite compares to the cluster of houseboats just off of Woods Hole. It is, simply, the best Cape Cod neighborhood we have ever seen.

We even stopped for a cold libation at one where we ran into a friend relaxing on what we’ll call the front porch, looking out at the village of Woods Hole. It’s hard to recall when a beer ever tasted so good.
This is not a year-round neighborhood, as the boats are all brought into Eel Pond every winter. And it’s not necessarily much of an overnight neighborhood, although it surely is some nights. But on this day, it was impossible to imagine any neighborhood anywhere being as nice as this one.
