WELLFLEET – Wellfleet Porchfest is always one of the best events of the summer.
But we got a late start this year driving from Cape Cod Wave’s worldwide headquarters in Falmouth, and arrived just at the end.
While there were many bands we wanted to see, we knew we didn’t have much time so we headed straight for the porch featuring our favorite through the years of Porchfest, Black Whydah.
Black Whydah, Cathy Hatch on guitar, Jean Sagara and John Best on fiddles
Normally, Black Whydah features Cathy Hatch on guitar, and John Best and Jean Sagara, both on fiddle. But for their final song of Porchfest, the band sang a cappella.
This song, “The Parting Glass,” is a traditional Scottish tune with roots as far back as 1782, said Sagara.
