Summer at Stony Brook Valley in Brewster

BREWSTER – Just off Route 6A but seeming like a world away, Stony Brook Valley, a conservation area in Brewster, can be accessed by trails at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History.

The one-mile Lee Baldwin Trail across 6A from the museum takes walkers via a boardwalk through a marshland habitat and over a herring run before it reaches upland to a beech forest.

That’s three ecosystems for the price of one!

This is an environment in constant flux, highlighted by the subtle and changeable lush green shades of the grasses, rushes and sedges in the valley.

Birdsong is the multi-layered tune accompanying the walk.
